Woodentop
Woodentop is a lakeside lumber town set atop a plateau offering a wide view of the surrounding area. With easy access to the forest that stretches all the way to the mountains, the town has had a very prosperous history.
Besides logging, Woodentop is popular with traveling hunters as the plains and forest are both home to abundant game such as deer, bear, and elk. Being situated at the northern terminus of the only connecting all of the southern towns and cities, it also enjoys the bountiful profits brought by trade and travel.
Leader: Woodentop has traditionally been led by an appointed earl. The current Earl of Woodentop is Bron Lawrence, the owner of the lumber operation and 3rd or 4th member of his line to hold the title, based on disputed genealogy.
Important Figures:
1. Cantor Roland Garisto: A priest of favor, the cantor has held this desirable position for many years and being in his 50’s, intends to serve for decades more.
2. Argyle Thaddeus: Argyle is a retired ranger, a half-elf who traveled all of Jineeva during his adventuring years, eventually settling in Woodentop to become the finest bowyer and fletcher in the kingdom. His bows far exceed the quality of those crafted by any one else.
Important Locations:
1. Town Hall and Barracks: In the event of trouble, this inner compound can be secured and defended until reinforcements arrive.
2. Tankards & Tommies: While technically the “lesser” of Woodentop’s two taverns, T&T is no run town establishment. Many who can afford “better” still choose to stop here on there travels.
3. The Bowman: Argyle’s shop and practice range. He is the sole-proprietor. The level of care that goes into Argyle’s craftsmanship is unmatched throughout the realm.
4. Temple of Anhur: This beautiful stone temple was built by the Lawrence family. It is more typical of a city cathedral than that of the lower population towns. Cantor Garisto takes pride in this fake and keeps every nook and cranny immaculately clean.
5. Lawrence Family Lumber Yard: This extensive operation has been in business for approximately 2 centuries, creating wealth for the residents of the town and especially the Lawrence family.
6. Canlon’ Corner House: Canlon’s is an upper-crust inn and tavern, serving many rich and noble travelers making their way to and from the southern cities along the road. It is expensive, but well worth it. Their kitchen is known as one of Jineeva’s finest restaurants.
