Rumblefish
Rumblefish is an immense city deep under Mount Krasmoog. It is capital of the clan from which it takes its name, and home to over 300,000 dwarves. Vast mines branching off from the city are worked daily by the steadfast men and women of the short, but strong populace.
The city is said to have been founded over 5000 years ago when dwarves first started mining precious metals in the area. Though the long-lived race keeps excellent records, the city has been around so long even its greatest scholars are ignorant to its earliest history.
Leader: Tigrim Rumblefish, king of the clan, is also the head figure within its capital city. A fifth-generation ruler, his family has held the throne since before the cataclysm, which is why Tigrim enjoys such strong support. Tigrim is a fierce warrior of legendary strength. Even in his advancing age, he leads his clan from the front against every threat, every expedition, every new mine breaking. Tigrim’s longtime desire for contact with the humans has paid off recently with the establishment of a dwarven presence in Mountainhome.
Important Figures:
1. General Malgornin Stonefist: Stonefist has led the armed forces of Clan Rumblefish for almost 200 years. He’s one of the oldest dwarves in the clan, yet still capable of feats of strength most would crumble under.
2. Bragosh Knucklecraker: Gruff, mean, tough and sturdy, Bragosh is the king’s champion, head of the court’s own guard and protector of the Tomb of the Book. In this role, he assigns all guards and is responsible for its security.
3. Caldahk, Paladin of Cromdahk: Caldahk has only recently returned from his journey over the mountains where he was involved in the quest to destroy The Being. In doing so, he brought back the word of Cromdahk and has been working to reestablish The Order of the Solemns.
4. Montagh Lighthammer: Montagh is the Chief Forger of Clan Rumblefish and likely the best in the entire world. There is no metal he cannot work, not item that he cannot forge. None come close to his superior skill at the anvil.
Important Locations:
1. Main Gates: From the outside, the entrance to Rumblefish appears as nothing more than a large crack in the base of the mountain, though a guard is maintained. On the inside, the formidable gate, combined with the royal complex, is sturdy enough to stop 10 red dragons.
2. Brewery: This 24 hour operation supplies the many barrels of beer, ale, mead, and sometimes even wine necessary to keep the dwarven capitol working.
3. Military Complex: The buildings in this area serve as the headquarters for Clan Rumblefish’s military, though few soldiers are actually stationed here.
4. Mine Entrances: Four large mines branch off from the city. The largest, both near the military complex, make the city appear as if a tiny speck. Some say they extend nearly to the human side of the mountains.
5. Great Library: This compound serves as the repository for centuries of dwarven learning, across all three clans. There is a university on site, along with numerous laboratories, studies, and training halls. Rumors of a secret gnomish presence have persisted for centuries.
6. Pony Training Grounds: Here the war ponies of Clan Rumblefish are bred and trained to be the finest in the land.
7. Temple of Cromdahk: Only recently re-consecrated, the city’s temple has attracted new Solemns and followers seeking the word of Cromdahk through his paladin and disciple, Caldahk.
8. The Great Forge: Due to the intense heat generated by Montagh’s forge, it is nestled in its own cave. All manner of wonderous metal items are made here, rivaling any ever constructed upon Thirith.
