Setich
Setich began its life as a nondescript fishing and farming village on the northern Whistling Coast. Through the centuries, frequent visits by the elves of Frolm influenced the village towards their customs. When Jineeva’s relationship with the elven kingdom was in its heyday, those elves who enjoyed spending time in the human kingdom began to build homes, shops, and temples.
At the time of the cataclysm, Setich was called Traladil, and though still mostly a human settlement, it had slowly become a place where humans and elves lived together in harmony, sharing common bonds and even familial ties. When the cataclyms made returning to Frolm impossible, those remaining mostly chose to settle here, where their influence was strongest within Jineeva.
Over the centuries since the cataclysm, most of the full-blooded elves have passed on, though some remain. The human populace shrank as relations soured once free movement between the cultures ceased. In annum 1922, a large fire ravaged the heart of the village, destroying the mostly abandoned human homes. To date, those of elvish (and mixed) blood have done little to clear the ruins.
Leader: There is no recognized leader in Setich. By elven custom, settlements are named after the leader, which is why Setich is called simply the elven word for “town”.
Important Figures:
1. Leogolor Ravaris: Leogolor is believed to be the oldest remaining full-blooded elf in Jineeva. He had been living mostly in Setich by the time of the cataclysm due to political rivalries in Frolm. He is believed to be over 800 years old. It is unknown if Leogolor wields arcane powers, as he advocates against the elves using their mastery of the art to aid the humans.
2. Amion Tordil: Amion is another elder full-blood. He is a retired warrior who previously served with Jineeva’s forces in battles against invading humanoids both north and south. Amion married a human after the cataclysm, but she has long since died. His offspring, if any, are unknown.
3. Valik Yr: Valik is a half-elf elder who serves as the town’s representative in Jineeva. He travels frequently between the two, though his advancing age has slowed him down some.
Important Locations:
1. Ladril’s House: This grand home remains empty and untouched since the cataclysm. It was the home of Ladril, the elven diplomat charged with maintaining friendly relations between the two kingdoms. When the cataclysm occurred, he was back in Frolm and has never been seen again.
2. The Elven Quarter: This spotless and well-maintained section of the town was and remains where most of the elves reside. A low wooden wall separates it from the now mostly destroyed human quarter.
3. Ruins: The ruins of the former human quarter of the town remain mostly as they have been since the great fire. The elves rarely enter this part of town.
4. Refugee Camp: Some of the humans who had strong ties to the elves choose to remain after the fire, settling in this rag tag camp.
5. Lighthouse: One of the few outward signs of elven magical abilities, this lighthouse burns with the ever-present glow of a magical fire pointed towards Frolm in the hopes that one day, the mythical land of the elves will be rediscovered.
6. Careela’s House: Careela Wy’Lolladral was brought to Setich as a young girl by her father who was an aide to the Elven court. The caraclym occurred while her parents were visiting the homeland, leaving her an orphan in Setich. She was raised by Leogolor’s wife and has resided in her family’s home, alone, for over 500 years. She is now married to the mage Valmar Erebus.
7. The Wicked Honkr: Adventuring-types attract wealth and with all of the recent activity in and around Setich, an intrepid group of businessmen have recently opened this oddly-named inn to much fanfare. The eldest elves in town are not thrilled, but most residents have welcomed the business with open arms.
8. The Cloaked Wizard Farm & Brewery: Valmar Erebus recently purchased this large plot of land and has begun preparing it for barley farming and a brewery.
9. Marketplace: With the increased population, adventuring, and trading activity in town, Setich’s marketplace is a bustling, vibrant place once more. All manner of goods may be found, or sold, at its many stalls.
