Nethon
Nethon is a small fishing village situated in a calm cove on the southwestern shore of Grandish Island. It has existed peacefully for generations only occasionally fending off gorilla attacks. Nethon’s worst losses occur when she has sent her young men off to fight in the goblin raids further south. Nethon’s local affairs are handled through town councils which are universally attended by all citizens. In this manner, the town remains united against allowing unsettled issues to fester. Nethon has yet to reap the bounty of the recently discovered Oak Tree Island, and as such, her fishing fleet is still made up mostly of medium sized rowing boats.
Leader: Grira Nernevan is the accepted leader of Nethon. She is a stern but compassionate woman in her late 50’s. Grira is well respected by the citizens of her village both for her calm demeanor in handling local business and her unique ability to keep Weton’s influence from overwhelming their small village.
Important Figures:
1. Mirlark Clearsalt: Mirlark is the commander of Nethon’s militia forces. He is a stern man, a fisherman by trade as most men of the village are. He carries many scars from fighting off gorillas and goblins, most recently when his men fought side-by-side with strange visitors claiming to be from another world.
2. Neidd Pamond: Neidd is a successful fisherman who is known to range further from the cove than most. He found the visitors who warned the town of the goblins who raided much further north than usual in the year 21.
3. Neavina: Neavina is shunned or feared, depending on the person, but all in Nethon. She is a witch who still wields some of the magical powers which flourished before the Cataclysm. She mostly keeps to herself outside of the village, but like everyone else, attends the local meetings.
4. The Visitors: The halfling Kane and the elf Gizzela, originally party with Lexi the priest, Pumpkinpie the mage, and Gorgon the dwarven fighter now reside peacefully in town, having survived the battle with the goblins which claimed their friends. They arrived under unknown circumstances in the year 21 and were instantly thrust into the fight for survival which claimed many of the town’s finest warriors. Based on Mirlark’s recounting of their heroism, these two survivors were allowed to remain in the village and have become accepted as equals.
Important Locations:
1. Village Meeting House: At least monthly, but more often if necessary, this building hosts the village meetings during which all major decisions are adjudicated. Grira can often be found here speaking with various citizens who come to her for advice. This building also houses the offices and armory used by the militia.
2. Neavina’s House: Residents of the village generally avoid Neavina’s home, but some are known to consult with her when questions arise that Grira cannot answer…
3. The Breakers: These small coral islands make up the breaker that separates Nethon’s calm cove from the more restless southern waters.
4. The Starveil Pub: This is the only tavern and rooming house in town. Visitors are rare in Nethon, but the fishermen frequent the bar. Poached chicken is the main fare served by husband-and-wife owners Chrulcy and Kilis Sibberbourne.
5. Grira’s House: Grira lives here with her family and 4 young orphans whose fate was dealt by various goblin and gorilla attacks.
6. Worship Hall: the village temple is attended to by Dayri Woodfire, priestess of Moka, Goddess of the Sea. She currently has 4 acolytes serving under her. The temple was founded over 200 years ago on this spot where The Miracle of the Catch is said to have occurred.
7. Tides Point: This stick of land jutting into the sea both serves as protection for the cove and danger for boats attempting to round it. Breakers, rocks, and according to the villagers, mystic powers of the sea have claimed many a fisherman here over the decades.

In the year 21, mysterious visitors appeared in the village of Nethon, found by the fisherman Neidd wandering the shoreline south of the village. Gorgon the dwarf, Gizella the elf, Kane the halfling, and the humans Lexi and Pumpkinpie claimed to be from a far away realm with no recollection of how they came to be on Grandish Island. As they forged their way through the forest, they encountered goblins. When this was reported to Grira, the town immediately realized that their worst fears had come true: a goblin raid had landed between them and any hope of help from the larger towns.
Mirlark mounted up all the forces he could spare from the town defenses and joined these visitors to root out the threat. The goblins were found camped by a beautiful spring-fed waterfall, 24 strong and well disciplined. A fierce battle ensued. Gorgon and Pumpkinpie were killed. Lexi had already perished when a rogue wave swept her off one of the boats. Kane rained arrows down from the trees while Gizzela was nearly killed fighting with her dagger. Though many were lost, the town's forces prevailed, and by their actions, Kane and Gizella were accepted as equals back in Nethon.
